i applied to like 2 more schools (that are not that hard to get into) so that i would get more acceptance letters so the feeling of being deferred from Brown wouldnt burn so badly haa.

Didnt apply to Columbia, Brown, HYPS b/c application was too....long.

Applied to Dartmouth b/c there was no extra essay (ended up withdrawing app :P)

Applied to WashU b/c there was no supp

Basically all of the colleges I appied to either had no supp essay or had only one supp essay (with the exception of Penn)...WOW IM SO LAZY HAHAHA

Didn't apply to Denver as a safety because I didn't want to bother any more people for a rec letter despite the fact that everyone told me I could get money to go there.
Oh well.

I was going to apply to Brown because that was the school picked by Bridget from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and she was my favorite character. Ended up not applying cause I didn't feel like BSing the interview.

Applied to USC practically because of the brochure that they sent me. Didn't apply to Stanford because the supp was too long and I didn't want to write more essays.

i almost didn't apply to MIT because i didn't feel like doing an interview.

i'm still applying now, but i'm skipping the interview. and i haven't even started the app yet, so i might miss the deadline.

if i get rejected, i don't care. i'm really only applying there because my parents wanted me too.

I'm a junior, but...

-I'm applying to Mount Holyoke partially because their choir's music sample on their website is a song that my conductor composed.
-I'm applying to Amherst because their course catalogue has the most creative titles for their classes.
-I'm applying to tech schools with skewed guy/girl ratios because the education seems great and I'm more comfortable around guys than girls.

-I refused to apply to any state school not in Michigan because I figured that if I wanted to go a state school, the U of M is the best one in the country, basically. Why go elsewhere?
-I won't apply to Elizabethtown College because people looked my family's car in a strange way, as if it was some sort of arcane wonder, when we drove on campus.
-I can't apply to Earlham because they made a typo in their cover letter.
-I'm not applying to any school that only has Macs in their labs.
-And I'm not applying to Bryn Mawr because I logged onto their website and under their events section was a big title that read, "SEX TOYS," and while it turned out to be a seminar about feminism or something like that, it just made me feel too awkward.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one with a ton of illogical reasons that are deterring me from applying to more schools than I actually am (superfluous supplemental essays, anyone?).

I didn't apply to Pomona because the receptionist was rude and uninformed when I called to schedule an on-campus interview.

I didn't apply to Occidental (even though I figured I should apply to one extreme safety in my home state) because Obama transferred from there within two years.

I didn't apply to Princeton because I wasn't in love with the supplemental essay topics and the reputation of eating clubs seems a bit elitist (if not to mention the images that they invariably invoke within my head -- fat man, eating contest, will say no more).

I didn't apply to Dartmouth because I didn't like the fact that a subjective evaluation written by a friend would be contributing to my admissions decision (especially since they only required the one basic essay, too!).

And I applied to Stanford. Yep, even though the many supplemental essays completely invalidate all of my previous points about laziness. :o

Oh, and I applied to Harvard on a whim because the supplemental essay permitted me to reuse another essay I had written. (Say what you want about me, but at least I can claim efficiency!)

I honestly started applying to 4 schools for the plain fact that they did not have a application fee. Once I got to the supplement, I called it quits cause I didn't want to write any essays.

I started applying to Oberlin because the name sounded cool. But I gave up on it.

Started applying to USC because I wanted to be in warm weather, but then the application process was too tedious and I stopped.

Applied to Northeastern because the brochure was really nice.

Didn't apply to Duke because I didn't like the font Duke is written in.

Didn't apply to Butler as a safety becasue I thought what I'd say if I got in no where and had to pronounce B-u-t-l-e-r? Especially after a friend of mine cracked: You'll become a Butler after studying from Butler, son.

didn't apply to emory because they kept spamming up my e-mail!!!

I didn't apply to Vassar because I did'nt like the way they trimmed their grass. And there are too many hippies.

I didn't apply to Ithaca College because one black man said to another black man the "N" word.

I didn't apply to community colleges because THEY SUCK.

I didn't apply to NYU POLY because someone that I regarded as inferior to myself goes there. Same with Syracuse.

I didn't apply to GWU because its initials look like an Asian last name.

I didn't apply to Duke because I don't like the color blue.

I applied to Boston College because I bought one of their T-shirts when I visited.

I applied to USC pretty much only because of their website. It's the only school that I looked at that has EVERY SINGLE MAJOR (around 100 or so) written out on one big list. For some reason the nerd in my thought this was freakishly awesome.

USC Catalogue: Undergraduate Education: Undergraduate Degree Programs : Degree Programs

10 char>.....

Oh and,

I applied to Boston College because I bought one of their T-shirts when I visited.

Also, I'm not applying to WUSTL because I couldn't feel good about giving money for mass mailings...

without their mass-mailings I wouldn't have applied :P

and now I like the school quite a bit. They even offered to pay for me to visit.

I didn't apply to WUSTL because a middle/high school acquaintance who has a stalker-level crush on me lives in Missouri and will be attending school somewhere there. I don't want to be in the same state. It's a shame that I didn't try to overcome that block, because I really respect the school.

Though originally hesitant because of religion, I applied to Catholic U of America in DC because students cheering for their football team, the Cardinals, wear T-shirts reading "Say Your Prayers." That eliminates the whole "uptight" fear!

I applied to all safeties for grad school because I didn't feel like reading another rejection letter from MIT. Ironically, a friend with a comparable record to mine got in the same year and goes there now.

didn't apply to UCI b/c university of chinese immigrants
