What's the most IMPRESSIVE EC you've seen?

Developing a much simpler, cheaper, and accurate test for cancer (or for any other disease, I suppose).
Building and operating a functional airplane, sailboat, or submarine.
Getting your writing published and paid (not in a school magazine, either).
Playing as featured guest performer with your city’s orchestra.

You can reach a high level in music without talent. Can also gain many leadership positions if you’re cunning enough and flattering enough.

A girl down the street from us (now a freshman at Williams) won the World Cup in skiing last year in her event…the first American to do so…is that good enough for ya? Okay, I have another one…a kid who started at Stanford this year and Twyla Tharp created a ballet especially for her when she was a child.

My son’s friend won a state symphony orchestra composers competition and had his composition played at an international music festival in Vienna. He chose to study music in college.

Area boy won the Intel as a freshman because he did devise an early detection for pancreatic cancer. He’s a high school senior now so I guess we’ll find out this school year where he gets into college.

Tim Doner. He goes to Harvard. I’m sure you can just google him.

I think reality TV shows are impressive. Like those ones for teens? If I was an admissions officer I’d look at it as “Oh that’s interesting.”

Friend started a company with a professor

I have a friend who’s an IMO
Gold medalist and scored the highest in qualifying for the USA IMO team.

I know a young women who has done some really high profile magazine cover spreads. She is signed to IMG and has been featured in Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Halston Heritage, and Torn by Ronny Kobo. She has done runway work as well in Europe. So yeah. That’s a pretty cool EC.
