Whats the transfer acceptance rate for CALS?

I'm a New York resident and currently a freshman at a college in PA. I plan to transfer to CALS as a JR for the fall of 2013 and I'm trying to find the exact admissions rate number for transfers to this college and I can't. I'm a biology major on a medical track but I see that CALS only has a major called biological sciences. Is that the same thing? Also, how much of an advantage do I have since I'm a NY resident?

Oh another question, should I start e-mailing my admissions officer about tours, my interest, more info about the college, etc? Again I’m applying this summer for entrance in fall of 2013

Here are two reports on transfers for the Fall of 2011. They can be found on the Cornell website along with lots of other enrollment data. CALS admitted, far and away, the most transfers of any undergraduate college at Cornell (318) and the second highest acceptance rate (46.8%).

Thanks can someone answer my other question?

Biological sciences is the same thing as biology. A lot of pre-med students major in biological sciences in CALS. There isn’t much of an advantage being a NY student, especially as a transfer. And it’s too early to email for Fall 2013 entrance because the application has not even passed for Fall 2012 entrance yet. Maybe email over the summer or fall of next year.

OKay thanks. I was hoping that since its a state school I would have an advantage.

I’m pretty sure First years/ GTs do. They accept a disproportionate amount of long islanders, even as transfers. Other than that, I’m not very sure.

^40% of transfers are from NY. I think it does help - not sure how much of that 40% are GTs though.

GTs are transfers right? Also why did he say it won’t be an advantage ESPECIALLY TRANSFERS ???Are transfers a disadvantage
