What's the verdict?

Same here, got the email this morning after they had trouble with AIM and AOL. Just waiting on Tech now!

D got in last night after being deferred during EA. We’re also waiting to hear from Tech, but as a JMU alumnus myself I’m one proud and relieved parent  She didn’t get her email until after 11:30pm last night (Gmail account), and she was the last of her friends to receive a decision.

Our DD was also the last to hear out of her group of friends, that is why I was getting nervous when I saw the bit about how many applied and saw some high stats that were rejected.

I think they had so many applicants this yr because of the economy. That is a very high number for a small school. I wonder how many applied to Tech this yr.

JMU has always been her 1st back up, so at least we feel like we can take a deep breath even if she doesn’t get into Tech, she will be happy there since the campuses are very similar unlike GMU or VCU.

We have Verizon/yahoo email. I’ve checked Spam box, I’ve checked my work email, and nothing. Is it possible that there are still those of us who’ve heard nothing?! I got the generic “decisions coming soon” email last week at home and work, so know they have our correct emails. Just get it over with already.

still havent heard either and i have a comcast email account, it sounds like they will just continually be sent out today.

I wonder if decisions are coming down based on the applicants email provider.

ya maybe and maybe is it based off if your in state or out of state, im out of state so that might be why.

My son received his e-mail around midnight – he was accepted!

He actually had two e-mails – one with all the graphics and one with text-only that cited the problems with AIM and AOL – so it sounds like there had to be a re-send. I’d suggest that if you hear nothing by 9 AM, call or e-mail the admissions office – there’s always the possibility that they have a bad e-mail address.

The acceptance posting said that 22,400 students applied for 3960 places in the freshman class. I’m assuming that’s a record number of applicants, so the acceptance rate is going to be much lower this year than the 65% cited on College Board’s site.

Good luck to everyone who’s still waiting – sounds like the wait time has no bearing on the decision itself.

I agree it will be much lower, probably in the 45% marker. UMDCP has the same class size and I believe they accept about 10K for a 4K class size.

For those on the waitlist, don’t give up hope. Especially for instate, many persons apply to JMU as a safety with hopes of UVA or WM. If you did not get accepted, chances are, you’ll do well wherever you decide to attend.

As i posted on another thread, my daughter got her acceptance last night on her e mail account. For those waitlisted, don’t give up hope. JMU is a safety school for us and unless they come up with a substantial financial aid package, it is not likely she will go there. Best of luck to all!

I would warn – don’t give up hope, but don’t count on it, either.

I don’t know JMU’s numbers, but UVa offered wait list spots to 4000 applicants last year; about half accepted, so there were about 2000 on the list. UVa has admitted between 40 and 160 applicants over the past six years from the wait list; so at best, a UVa wait list candidate has an 8% chance of admittance. I don’t know what JMU’s numbers are, but I doubt it adds up to 50-50.

If I really wanted to go to JMU, I’d accept the wait list spot and cross my fingers; an 8% chance is much better than no chance at all. But I’d also put down a deposit at my next choice.

No decision yet here in Northern Virginia for my D (who has a yahoo account).

I think I’d feel better seeing who else has had NOO email at all. This is agony. Keep us posted. We are in VA (outside Richmond) with a Verizon/yahoo email account.

No emails yet…

But in either case, here is an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal that may make you feel better:
[When Success Follows the College Rejection Letter - WSJ.com](<a href=“When Success Follows the College Rejection Letter - WSJ”>When Success Follows the College Rejection Letter - WSJ)

I got a letter
ACCEPTED!!! by the grace of god

I haven’t heard back from JMU yet either.
And I’m in-state as well.

Still nothing! I just called JMU admissions and asked if all the emails were sent out. The man I spoke to said everything was sent so I should have received an email by now. Because I never received my pin number, there isnt any way I can check my status! I also have a verizon/yahoo account, although I doubt they sent me the email. Ive never had a problem with my email before… Anyways, he said that packets were sent out and should be received soon

I’m wondering if Verizon/Yahoo flagged these emails as some sort of mass spam attack and blocked them entirely.

Post #78 in this thread looks like it was to a Yahoo account
