What's there to be elected?

So I received some messages from current students applying for election positions and I was just curious: What types of things overall can one be elected as at Cornell?

I think I asked a similar question a little while back on if Cornell had dorm councils, and while that isn't true, I guess they have different campus area representatives?

If someone has like a big list of things (or can come up with a handful haha) of positions that students can run for, I'd appreciate it! Also, do any elections for things happen in spring?

From I understand, there’s:

 • Student Assembly
 • Student Trustee
 • Undergraduate Assembly
 • Class Councils

Yes you can run in spring. By spring freshman will be able to run for anything.

assembly.cornell.edu for more info. Check it out.

I’m an incoming spring sophomore transfer, hopefully the same rule would apply?

Not entirely sure if I want to run for anything in particular yet, but I’m definitely keeping my options open. I’d love to get involved with the transfer community, but it looks like elections for the head of that are going on right now. Maybe something will open up next semester ^^

I know last year a sophmore junior transfer (of that year) ran for SA president and came close, so anything’s possible.

Good luck!
