What's up with people who graduate HS early?

Some kids in my school have the necessary credits and graduated HS as juniors, the thing is could they get into college?

I dont think thats a very wise idea

someone from my class did it, went to GW..

I'll tell you what's up. High school SUCKS (in some cases) and smart kids want to go to college where they can be challenged. I don't see anything wrong with it, in fact I wish I had done it.

i know people who did and got into schools. its not that big of a deal.

there's no problem with that, in some cases it means they can start college early...

I wish i did it. I know people who did it and is a sophomore now...(or i wish i graduated a semester earlier) oh well. I enjoyed my senior year.

It's annoying when people graduate early to go to community college and come back all high and mighty with that "I'm-smarter-than-you-are" attitude. Of course, that's not to say that CC is bad, but anybody with enough credits can do it and to graduating early isn't that hard.

LOL, I wish I had done it..

+I could do it right now, but as much as I hate HS, who wants to start something like that all over again, senior year is supposed to be fun

I did it (long ago, I'm a parent now) and my older sister did, too. Skipping that extra year was very unusual at that time.

We both went on to a big state school. Neither of us had to sweat too much to get into college. Once we were in college nobody cared that we were a year younger.

I think skipping a year is a great idea if a kid is bored and kind of socially out of step with the other students. If you're having a great time, have lots of friends, enjoy school sports and social activities, love living at home, then by all means stay in HS. What I don't get is seniors (or younger students) who are taking a ton of AP courses and racking up college credits and doing research and are generally beyond what a HS can offer. Why not just move on to college?

I know a lot of people who grad. early.

wackymother, i think thats what it now means to be a competitve applicant. to be better than the average student to get into a top notch school you have to overextend yourself and take on a college course and activity load...even though its most likely what you are going to do in college...you have to get there first...

I don't think I could ever do that. You miss out on your senior year; that's something you should remember your whole life.

I'm a parent and I graduated when I was 16 (just a semester early), for the reason Anoel indicated 'high school sucked'. I was just ready to be done with it. I worked and volunteered for the semester, and then started college in the fall. I was fortunate that my parents supported me in doing this (infact, my mom suggested it).
Early graduation is not for everyone, but it can be a good way to go for some

a girl from my school graduated as a junior and is currently in harvard... i don't think it really matters to colleges as long as they show that they can handle it

I decided not to graduate last year and spent all of this year regretting it... I was ready for college early, that's all

I will graduate 2 years early, but i skipped my grades earlier (like in middle school and elementary) so it hasn't affected my high school social life (except I can't drive).

Yeah, I skipped a grade in elementary school. It was fun stuff. Being younger has actually been more fun, cause my best friend is younger too! We have loads of fun being immature... :-)

As far as going to college early...senior year and graduation has been so awesome..I wouldn't trade it for anything..even leaving my horrible high school one year early!

I wish I would have graduated a year early. Senior year is both boring and lame.

I wish I had seen the benefits of graduating early in my freshman year because then I could have taken the necessary courses. High school sucks.
