Whats with the decline/stagnation in appicants?

If you had Wake winning it all, you clearly never watched them play.

lolol^^^ ******** you have cleveland state over wake. and i have watched them play big games like vs duke and unc never watched their out of conference games. also ur username is dionte christmas which i assume means ur a fan of temple. and temple is ****

How'd Penn do in the tournament?

^a lot of people thought Penn State should have made it, but they didn't. They were probably the first team to be left out.

hehe...i had cleveland state over wake without question. even though jeff teague's at wake i couldn't take them over the way cleveland state had been playing.

i'm from indy so i'm a big butler fan, watched alota horizon league games, and also have watched alota WF cause teague went to pike hs which is a couple miles from my house and in my schools conference and i like following players that i watched play locally in high school (ie oden, conley, eric gordon, teague, jajuan johnson, etc)

arizona in the elite 8. let's do this.

Where are you people from? At my HS, and certainly everywhere else in the Northeast, Penn is considered top 10, definitely a serious contender with any school except for HYPMS. It easily beats out Duke, and evenly shares applicants with dart/columbia/brown. It destroys Chicago.

Where did this discussion come from? Around here, there's no prestige issue at all. Perhaps in Mississippi or something.

Haha, is this a joke? I applied to Columbia, Brown and Penn, and I'm worried most about my Penn app. In New York private schools, they're definitely all seen on equal ground (Penn is actually perceived as possibly a bit better, due to the US News ranking).

brown and columbia are basically the same thing as penn, except brown and columbia are a lot better

Why, EATYOURCEREAL? I'm a new member (5th post!!!), so fill me in.

Wow - people on this board need to relax. I did my grad work at Penn, and unfortunately, this sort of obsessive status consciousness was a bit of a turn off during my graduate school years. Penn is a great school with superb regional brand recognition (primarily on the east and west coasts). Whether Brown or Columbia are seen as "better" shouldn't matter either in your college decision or your contentment with Univ of Penn.

PS - muertepablo, I did my undergrad at Chicago, and enjoyed it thoroughly. It's not surprising, though, that most cross-admits would pick a different school. While Chicago is on par with pretty much all the "middle and lower" ivies, it's reputation for rigorous academics and bone-chilling winters doesn't exactly do much to entice students to come. There are a lot of factors as to why one student may pick a certain college over another. For example, for students picking Columbia over UPenn, a big factor could be location, NOT perceived differences in the strengths of the school.

Seriously, everyone should just calm down. All of these schools are superb, and trying to find gradations in excellence at this level is just unneeded.

Hey, that's a thoughtful post! I definitely agree with its sentiment. I got a likely letter to Columbia (w00t!), but if I also get into Penn, it's gonna be a tough decision.

@alvie.singer

It's the opposite for me: I got a likely letter from Penn, but if I get accepted to Columbia I'm definitely taking the offer.

Really? To live in New York? Or for more substantial reasons?

I'm from New York, and I'm honestly sick of it. I'd love to experience a change of surroundings.

Don't take EATYOURCEREAL seriously. If you check out his posts, all he does is rant on this forum about how Penn is an inferior school without given any legitimate reasons. Probably a Penn reject

Oh, interesting. Quite right, AstonMartin.
