Whats wrong with this school?

The shocking final hours of Penn State pledge Timothy Piazza’s life.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. —  Through grand jury testimony, police questioning and a review of Beta Theta Pi’s complex video surveillance system, authorities have put together a harrowing narrative of the last hours of Timothy Piazza’s life, from when he began the hazing ritual at the Penn State University fraternity, his fall down 15 feet of basement stairs to the 911 call for help the following morning and the desperate attempts by doctors to save his life.

Purpose of the post?

Yes, a horrible crime occurred on campus at a fraternity and they will and should be held accountable.

Has nothing to do with the entire school. Hazing happens on every single college campus. Penn State is admirable in their crack down on the Greek system since this happened and they have threatened to shut down all greek life if things don’t improve.

No I’m talking about the systematic ignorance of the administration to its cultural issues dating back to Sandusky and the denial of wrongdoing by Penn State.

Penn State has cracked down on the Greek System because of this and the entire system…which is one of the largest in the US…is in danger of being removed at PSU. I don’t think underage drinking and fraternity hazing is a cultural issue only at Penn State. It is a nationwide college cultural issue and it needs to be addressed.

And…not everything has to do with Sandusky. This certainly doesn’t as the people in charge are totally different. Sandusky is one thing, this is wholly another.

There’s already a thread open about this: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1990207-penn-state-fraternity-and-18-of-its-members-are-charged-in-students-death-p1.html

As I said there, 17% of Penn State is involved in Greek life. People seem to forget it’s an academic institution, not solely a football team or a group of fraternities and sororities.

So this “what’s wrong with ALL OF THEM” hand-wringing is both off-base and ridiculous.

Penn State has great students/professors it’s the administration that always comes up short.
