One of my friends got caught cheating and was reported to the Dean....he doesn't know what will happen to him. I searched around my school's website and couldn't find the penalties for getting reported. He already had a letter from the Dean for cheating last semester, they didn't do anything that time. But this is his second time so he is scared. Any of you know anyone or have been in a similar situation? What do they do? Do they expel you? suspend you?

More than likely expulsion, yes.....

a kid in my english class got caught not citing a source. He was kicked out of the class and given an F. Vs. expulsion, i'd take the F!

Expulsion seems to be the most logical considering he has a prior.

My old school said you'd get an F but they actually expelled you...

Its just not worth it, I mean, no class I've ever taken would give you a failing grade based on one test even if you failed

Anyone who cheats deserves expulsion... i do not spend countless hours in the library, math lab, or at my desk studying until very late at night to earn my good grades only to be rejected from a school becuase a cheater was chosen over me.

cheating does not pay, and it does not get you anywhere..

I think he'll most likely be expelled

serves him right

first of all, if he's dumb enough tocheat and then dumb enough to get caught twice then he should be expelled

I believe my CC's (De Anza) cheating policy is usually at the discretion of the instructor. Most classes I've been in, being caught cheating is usually ground for an automatic F for the course and the Dean gets notified.

I don't understand why anyone would cheat. In the grand scheme of things, what GPA you have and what college you transfer to don't really matter. I would rather go to a lesser ranked school that I knew I got in through my own merits, than go to some highly prestigious school knowing that I didn't deserve to get in.

damn expulsion? I hope not. the funny thing is that the guy had an A going in the final...then he tried to exchange answers with another person and they both got caught...ended up with Ds in class and got reported

He's scared because this is the second time he was caught? Personally, I'd be more scared that he does not have the self confidence or ethical strength to live with the grades he will get without cheating. Character is what you do when no one is looking.

funny thing is that he maintains that he was innocent both times....I mean if he really was he would have contested itq
