What's your class rank?

I’m 3/432 but would be number one if I did not get C in gym.

At the end of year, I was 5 out of over 100 students. It’s kind of cool, because I’m great friends with most of the people in the top of the class. #2 will be changing classes because he’s graduating a year early, so I’ll be bumped up a slot.

You guys are going to laugh, but I’m 62/192 + people. They’re all probably going to slack off junior year and plan to fill up my report card with A*'s. We’ll just see what happens. I’m not shooting for HYPSM though, I’m not remarkable enough for them. I feel better now, I needed to get it out there into the harsh world of CC.

@PolyglotGal‌ 62/192 (68th percentile/2nd quarter) is nothing to be ashamed of. People in the second quarter aren’t inherently worse or anything- I know a person in the third quarter doing PetroE at UT-Austin (#1 program in his major, really tough to get into) next year and several people in the second quarter whom schools like Berkeley and UCLA deemed good enough. Actually I’d thought they were top-10% all along, so class rank/GPA are definitely not the whole picture.

@dividerofzero‌ you’re right. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. But I’m constantly told my mother that I will go to Harvard although being #5 is already a red flag. My class rank just emphasizes the regrets.

@PolyglotGal‌ Oh god I can relate so well to that (except for the class rank part). I was technically 1/638 (we have 22 valedictorians since they just go by GPA and cap Honors weighing at the 4 core classes) so my parents were surprised that I didn’t get into Stanford, MIT, or any of the Ivies. I think they’re still mad at me over it >_<.

It’s just all silly; don’t regret it a single bit of it because there’s not that much of a gap between the Ivies and the rest. In a lot of places (fortunately including my major), the Ivies are lagging behind places that the average layman wouldn’t recognize- the ones that don’t get way too many applications and aren’t as tricky/crazy to get into. You’ll do just fine- and it’s not a bad thing to have parents who believe in you, anyway. :)

Just graduated 2/131 in 3 years instead of 4.

As of last semester, I was 28/281. I’m hoping that next year, junior year, I will be able to get it up to at least 20 or higher.

At the end of the first semester I was 21/669, but my GPA went up for second semester. So my rank probably went up a bit.

1/186+ (depends on how many graduate early)

no ranks at my school.

My school doesn’t do class rank or valedictorian because there are (according to my senior friend) “too many smart kids.” xD
