Mine is Rice. I love everything about it from its stellar academics to its quirky, intellectual, diverse student body to its unique residential life. I literally bang my head on my desk every time I read their latest news story, a new student blog, or watch a freshly uploaded video because I want to go there so badly but I know I stand no chance.

Who else feels this way about their dream school? Where would you love to spend the next 4-5 years?

@jinx123445 Believe in yourself. I honestly don’t even have a dream school. It used to be UCLA, but I refuse to pay that much for undergraduate school (I’m out-of-state). So at this point in my life, I figure I’m going to end up at whatever school I’m meant to end up with. It’s a lot less stressful that way.

@aNerdyGangster Yes, Rice is amazing. If you have any interest in schools like HYP but maybe want a more collaborative and vibrant student environment, I definitely recommend you look into it.

@tola2015 I like that attitude that you have, and I’ve tried to do the same by falling in love with every single school I’m applying to, include my ‘‘safeties.’’ I can honestly say that I would absolutely love to attend any of the schools on my list, but Rice is still the dream. Have you visited UCLA? Because when I visited, I got the impression that it was much too grad school/research focused.

@Pujiyhgttb3 Mind sharing why you’re interested in Columbia? And to answer your question, my stats are kind of complicated, where it’s possible that I may get rejected everywhere but my safeties, but there’s still a possibility that I could get into one of my reaches. I’m kind of relying solely on 11th/12th year grades and my essays to get me in.

@jinx12344 I like Columbia because it has great facilities, convenient location, plenty of majors, competitive, and offers really good financial aid.

@jinx123445 No, I haven’t visited, I read student reviews for the school and realized I probably wouldn’t like it much anyway. Right now, I just need to finish applications for Rice, Brown, and Yale and hope that at least one of them gives me $$ if I get in because according to these NPC (with the information I have that my parents are willing to give me) I’m almost full pay.

I kinda don’t have one. I’m not applying to any Ivys or super crazy schools because my test scores aren’t quite strong enough and I’m hoping to get a lot of merit aid. My favorite school I’m currently applying to is Occidental College. I do think I’ll look into more selective schools for graduate studies or law school if I decide to do that. I’m super interested in Columbia and Yale for that!

@jinx123445 I know, I’m not really moping. It’s just that I like humanities too, Chicago’s culture is less tech-focused, scav is awesome, I love the core, and I just generally like the city of Chicago better. They also have an excellent middle-east studies department (I spent my summer in Israel during the war, I want to learn more academically) and a nicer campus. ALSO my parents went to MIT so it’s kinda…idk…I’ve been to MIT a lot, we have a lot of family friends who still work there, my parents still go to steer roast at Senior House, etc. Chicago is uncharted territory.

I don’t really have one dream school (I keep going through phases of liking different schools) but right now I really like UChicago. I like how they have the core and from the videos I’ve watched and what I’ve read on the website, it seems that the students all have a passion for learning, not just in the STEM subjects, but in all of them. I’ll probably have to major in a STEM subject but I’d like to explore other things too. I also like Duke for the same reasons. I don’t really care much about location, though.
