It is only ‘generally true’ because most of the books you chose were famous in their own right.
If you consider well known classic movies like:
Dr. Strangelove
Psycho
Blade Runner
Rear Window
The Graduate
Raging Bull
The Godfather
It’s hard to argue that the books they were based on were superior.</p>

<p>I figure I may as well join in this little discussion here…</p>
<p>HarryJones has a point but in the end, I have to agree with the others that the books that the movies are based off of are usually superior to the actual movie. It is uncommon for the movie to be better than the book simply because it is more difficult to fit in every significant detail of the book in the movie which is why longer movies are able to live up to the book’s expectations.</p>
