culture, chicken tikka and dosa!!! yum

Nothing really. I am pretty irritated with all the regionalism and “We-want-a-separate-state” nonsense going on in our country. It is really stupid. The media propaganda makes it worse. The security is also pretty messed up. An my god, don’t even make me start on the football team :P

But the food is the one positive I can pick up. And a large majority of the people are really great and friendly.

Yeah absolutely nothing.

Who all here are:

aspiring for a foreign university. if so, which one?

are already in one. again, which one?

@arronnie-
Obviously, everyone here is aspiring for foreign universities- multiple ones.
Very few have got their first decisions, its not even time yet for the ED/EA results.
And as far as the ‘nonsense’ and ‘nothing’ is concerned, at least those people in AP have some sense of community, no matter how localised. By saying ‘nothing really’ you’re pointing out your lack of respect for your own own culture and awesome country. And security? Dude, just think about what you’ve done in the past one week- in the road/mall/wherever, and you’ll have your answer. The security ‘personnel’ are just people like you who have been unfortunate enough to be put in uniforms to do the same job as every Indian- often with the same pathetic mindset of an Indian who doesn’t know how he’s affecting the country.

You don’t live in Maharashtra, do you? If you did, you would know what “regionalism” is. The MNS’ constant drive against people who can’t speak Marathi is extremely immature and childish behaviour. Add to that, we have politicians who walk out of the state assemblies at the drop of a hat and also, there are brawls in our Lok Sabha almost every day. I know not many will agree with me here, but I feel our country has a loooooong way to go before we come anywhere near the truly developed countries, one of which is our neighbour, China.

And as for the my part in security aspect, being a regular commuter of Mumbai’s local trains, I make it a point to look under my seat everytime I sit down, and that is about all I can do, I believe. Did you read about the coast guard not having used any of their commissioned helicopters since 26/11? The coastline here is still as insecure as it was last year. Just two days ago, smugglers were able to take in 12000 oil cans under the noses of our coast guard.

Of course I love our culture, and would maintain it wherever I go. But there are many aspects of this country which I do not like, and I am voicing my opinion about them. I do agree with what you say, that we have a role to play in the country’s development as well.

I have lived in Maharashtra, and I currently live in Lucknow- home to the Mayawati and Mulayam. I still don’t really recognize regionalism. I only recognize possessiveness, stereotyping, ego, self(and things associated with self)-importance and stubbornness. What you are doing at the moment is not too different from the people who’re crying for a separate region if you think carefully. I’m not pointing fingers at you. Its something against our general Indian mentality, and I say this because I believe you as an educated and intellectually gifted Indian can at least go a smaaaal way in taking us somewhere near the true development of our own country.
If actually do give a damn to the security and brawls, send me a PM and we can discuss exactly what we are supposed to do.

One of my favourite things about India-

“OK TATA BLOW HORN” I always smile when I see that!

You’re missing the ‘Buri nazar waley tera mooh kala’ below it.
And maybe the ‘Sonu di gaddi’ and ‘raja loves priya’ :P

And don’t forget OK TATA BYE. That always cracks me up.

wait, cheese already said that. Reading fail.

ROFL! That was an epic cute fail :D

I love OK TATA BYE!

HORN OK TATA!

They even have a dhaba named after it in pune!

And the family scooters and autos/rickshaws
Soon, nano too?

Nano-autos! I’m sure that’s going to happen. Painted yellow and black and replacing them autos on the road. With meters, that, OBVIOUSLY “don’t work”.
