What's Your Heritage?

<p>You are correct...There are different complexions, though...In Italy, people in the southern regions may be darker, but people in the north tend to be much lighter...The same goes for Greeks. Saying they aren't "white" is like saying that people in northern Europe, where people tend to have lighter complexions, are more "white than people in southern Europe...The complexions may be different, but it is classified as the same race.</p>

<p>Blackdream, the purpose of this topic was for people to state their heritage, not merely their race. If you look at people from different areas of Europe, you will notice different complexions, names, etc. By one saying, "I'm white," others know very little about this person's heritage. It would be like me saying that everyone of Asian descent should call him/herself Asian. In Europe, people also look different, varying amongst different countries and areas. I'm sure people would also prefer, in most situations, to tell others where their ancestors came from, rather than just a continent. I'm Italian, Polish, Ukrainian, Austrian, German, Russian, and French. Saying "European" is far less specific...</p>

<p>My grandparents are Scots-Canadian, and they immigrated to America from Nova Scotia in their 20's. I am about 60% Scottish, as well as German and Dutch.</p>

<p>I'm mexican and spanish, i look mexican, but i'm not so dark, not that light, spanish conquered mexico, so i'd have to say about 3/4 mexican 1/4 spanish</p>
