What's your motivation for working as hard as you do?

Is it to make tons of money? To meet the expectations of your parents? To get a certain job or achieve some specific thing?

I’m going to college in honor of my older brother who never got to. I’ll be the first in my family. My brother wanted to, but passed away before he got a chance.

I ****ing hate quitters

Because I want to work hard. It
s not even so much as to go to a great school (I have no desire for Harvard even, the only “great” school I
m planning to apply to at this point in time is Northwestern), but just my personal satisfaction in doing well. My parents play no part in it. As long as I
m doing my best, they
re fine. They aren
t like helicopter parents or whatever it is people call those parents who force their kids to apply for Harvard and get straight A
s.

Because I have a sister and parents to take care of.

Money mostly… But also because I know I’m smart and I believe I can pretty much achieve anything… So long as I put enough work into. And since I feel smart enough to go somewhere great, if I went to the community college or UNC Charlotte or something I would feel like I never tried my hardest… I don’t think I would be proud of my college … And I would blame most of my job/money/life issues on not working hard in highschool D; … Some kid who always gets good grades and gets an A doesn’t really care, but a kid who. Struggles and makes an A is ecstatic. A kid who had a closet full of clothing buys shirts willy nilly; a kid whose never owned a shirt will treasure a new shirt… It’s just what you think is good enough for you/what you’re worth

I think it’s because academics are the only thing that I’m really good at. I’m slightly above average in sports, music, etc. So far academics is the only thing I can do really good in with minimal effort.

^^^ I also agree to that. I’m not the sportiest (I love working out but I’ve never played a sport…) or the best for plays (I think I could but I’m not that confident) . Academics comes a lot easier to me… For me it’s just studying a little (an hour on hard days) more each day and doing hw and I’m already top of my class.

I do what I can because I know I have one shot on planet Earth to achieve the difference I want to make. I also believe our purpose on this planet is not to party, but to follow our passion, make our contribution, and rise above ourselves.

My motivation is that I want to get the hell out of Alaska.

I want to be able to receive a quality education in math/science/engineering. So in math and science classes, I work hard because I legitimately enjoy the subject. In history and english (moreso english), it’s more so I can get into a college with a really good engineering program.

To make sure I don’t become anything like my parents!

To beat my other classmates in my classes…

Pet lover that answer needs to build on. Don’t leave us hanging

So that I don’t go into debt…

My household income is rather low, but very few schools meet 100 percent of demonstrated need, so my options are get into one of those top schools that do meet 100 percent of demonstrated need or get a lot of merit scholarships. Either way you need great grades and scores for that to happen.

Because I honestly don’t know what else I’d do with my time… Lol. I’m not athletic, nor talented at many other things. I also genuinely love learning.

good life in the future. and I want to be in a good college so I won’t have losers around me as I do now.

Honestly, I’m competitive, and I think I have a fear of failing. But I also want to be able to support myself and my family. Single parenthood seems to run in the family and should that EVER happen to me (not that I’m banking on it; you just never really know) I want to be able to work a nice job, support my family, and set a good example. Even if I don’t turn out as a single parent, I want to contribute and set a good example for my kids to work and reach for whatever they want. (I do actually LOVE school and learning) I guess I’m a family oriented person.

Annnddd I don’t want to fall into debt like my parents are right now. I know things like this can happen out of no where, but I just want to be as prepared as possible.
