Curious about what everybody else is doing. I’m a Junior at San Francisco State University, and I’m currently finishing up:
Geographic Techniques (how to read maps, do surveying, navigate, and organize data, basically)
Graduate Writing Assesment for Urban Studies and Planning
Research Methods for Urban Studies and Planning
The Violent Earth (geology of natural disasters)
Biography of a City: Los Angeles (humanities, literature and Hollywood films)
Too many units, to be honest. Negatively impacting my GPA. I’m cutting back on units from now on.
In the Summer, I attain Senior status, and have:
Politics of Power in American Indian History
Dynamics of an American City
In the Fall semester, I have:
Geography of Landforms
Intro to Geographic Information Systems
Data Analysis for Urban Studies and Planning
Urban Anthropology
In Spring, I need to take Vector GIS, Senior Seminar for Urban Studies and Planning, and Senior Seminar in Geography, then in the Fall of 2017 a required civic service internship and Raster GIS.
Fall semester begins my junior year, and most of my classes are for my major.

8:00-11:00a - Adolescent Literature and Literacy
Tuesday
3:05-4:20p - Inclusive Special Ed Foundations
4:35-5:50p - Special Topics

Thursday

My schedule is kind of nice considering I only have one class a day for the most part. It’s going to be my first time at a university and away from home, so I’m stoked!
I always take a ton of units. I’m a rising junior.
I just finished up:
Algorithms
Abstract algebra 1
Intro to Composition (music)
Dance history/theory 2
Intermediate German 2
3 music ensembles for credit
2 private lessons for credit
(1 ensemble and 1 private lessons not for credit)
In the fall, I’ll have:
Coding theory
Probability
Computer security
Tonal harmony 2:chromaticism (last music theory)
Intro to costuming (theater)
3 ensembles for credit
2 private lessons for credit (diff instruments)
(2 private lessons and 1 ensembles non credit)
@Spaceship Wow, you’re classes look a lot like the classes I’ll have to take in the future! My major is enviornmental science.
I’m a freshman and I just took: Biology gen II + lab, Geology + lab, Natural Science, and UD Poli Sci (for my minor) (17 credits)
Next semester I’m taking Intro to Env. Sci + lab, Bio-statistics, Theory of american government, and environmental ethics (16 credits)!
Fluid mechanics
Thermo 2
Bio (cellular/molecular)
Honors human geography
Technical writing
For 15 credits. Not willing to overload myself at this point. The semester that just ended was a struggle and even though I have a single this year and a schedule that lets me out at 1 PM MWF, I am so tired of just going going going. I just finished five finals for six classes a week ago and am soooo not about that life.
My first year was a tough transition and I might have had too much on my plate but I wouldn’t change much, except that I didn’t study as hard as I could have. I’m only taking required courses (no humanities) for 15.5 credits, after 18 last semester and 19.5 before that.
Last semester:
Physics 1
Calc 3
Philosophy and Math
Intro to Engineering
Literature as Data
Next semester:
Fundamentals of Computing
Discrete Math
Intro to Linear Algebra and Diff. Eq
Physics 2
My fall semester is still somewhat tentative because I begin applying for fall internships over the summer, and if I secure an internship, then that counts for three credits (and I’d subsequently drop one of my current standard classes.) But assuming that no such internship happens, my schedule for F16 is:
– Modern Political Theory
– Latin American Politics
– Urban Politics
– Research Seminar (I’ll be in a team conducting research on high school students from my University’s city with regards to their experiences dealing w. police brutality, discrimination, and poverty – at the end, I’ll be producing a thesis.)
– Honors Literature course
My current schedule is
– American Civil Liberties
– Jewish Prophetic Theology
– Genocide Studies (Honors)
– Introduction to Politics
– Philosophy Seminar
Taking a somewhat lighter course load for my sophomore year than freshmen year. I’m planning to spend more time doing research and do more volunteering without affecting my academics- two of my classes are honors, so hopefully everything will go well! So far am planning:
General Physics II
Intro OChem
Evolution, Ecology & Genetics + Lab component
Independent Study (basically research credit)
I’d initially planned on also taking an art class so I could get started on my studio art minor, but I opted to focus on my major and premed classes this coming semester.
Current Spring 2016 - 16 credits:
Personal Relationships
Socioeconomic Issues of Families
Beginner Hapkido/Self-Defense
Strategic Learning for 21st Century
Introduction to Information Technology Management
Communications in Health Care Settings
Future Fall 2016 - 15 credits:
Ethics/Philosophy/Professional Development Issues
Introduction to Asian American History
Introduction to Asian American Studies
Personality
American Government
Pretty much I’m just finishing upper-division and taking elective classes.
Accounting
Managerial Ethics
Bioethics
Organizational Theory
Health in a Free Society
Congressional Politics
I’ll probably drop one during add/drop since I don’t like the sound of taking 18 credits while being an RA and possibly getting an internship/more involved in ECs…
^^ There are gonna be all kinds of regret with that schedule this fall lol. You’ve already been admitted @blackwidow22. You don’t need to take schedules like that anymore.
@CaliCash Hahaha!. Ironically to me that looks like a fun schedule, I have never made a class schedule to just look good. And to me the only difficult class there is Calculus lol
Don’t worry guys. I am taking that schedule because I love it & because I want to. Besides, I can’t not take classes that are required for a biochem major in a pre-med track. It is now or later. And I am a transfer student from a community college where I’ve done my general courses so it isn’t like I am not ready/like it is new. I am just considered like a freshman because it is my first year at this university
