<p>a book about a boy who is from... a rural part of africa? and he arrives in south africa one day, steps off the bus, and the writer describes the trauma he experiences from being exposed to modern culture..? does anyone know a book in which someone is exposed to a city/etc. for the first time and the writer describes all of the curiosities and horrors?</p>

<p>yeah i was gonna say cry the beloved country...i read that book summer between 6th and 7th grade and HATED it. the school was stupid for making us read that book when we were so young</p>
