considering applying- can you tell me about the campus life etc.?

Excellent faculty, small school in small town but close to two cities so you aren’t stressed as you would be in an urban school. People are friendly. Nobody commits suicide or has some terrible scandal at Wheaton. The students are very thoughtful and kind to one another. There is no greek life. Excellent placement for grad schools if you do reasonably well.

Nice college community in a small New England town. Everybody is friendly!
Students use public transportation to go to Providence or Boston.
Great academics, financial aid, about 1500 undergrads, Division III Athletics.
38% Male, 62% Female. Formerly an all-women’s school. No Greek Life.
My student is really enjoying it there! A highly ranked LAC by USNWR.

SLUMOM – Can you provide any insight into the financial aid program at Wheaton? For example, do you have any idea how big a part of the typical FA package is loan vs. grant/scholarship? I don’t want to reel off a bunch of questions that can be answered on the website so I’ll leave it at that for now. Just trying to get get a personal impression mainly.

Hudsonvalley, I sent you a PM about the bucks!

My D just visited, and although she really likes many similar small LACs, she did not connect with Wheaton. She said they kept repeating that it was a myth that it’s a suitcase school, and yet on a Saturday afternoon she said she saw no signs of students anywhere.

That said, her counselor recommends it highly, and we’ve heard good things. To her it just didn’t compare to Conn, Clark, Dickinson and Muhlenberg.
