When 1 parent is permanately disabled.????

Our first child is deciding about schools. Hubby and I are terrified. He works (70k) but I have been permanently disabled and we also have a full disabled special needs child who is younger so financially we arent great. I dont know where to begin or what to expect. I heard FAFSA doesnt count your bills or anything. Does anyone have advice? Thank you

CSS Profile allows you to present special circumstances so perhaps might be beneficial to you. Have some fafsa-only schools as well as some fafsa+CSS schools in the mix. Pay attention to schools that are generous with merit aid (without having to be a child genius) or that offer automatic scholarships. Consider community college for the first 2 years and check the cost of your state U (not always the cheapest option).

What are your sons stats? ACT/SAT/GPA/APs etc? Home state?

Does that child receive disability funds? Is his/her healthcare covered by medicaid or similar? Do you have a lot of medical debt that is from uncovered medical bills (expenses that exceed his/her monthly disability check)?

Your hubby has income and it sounds like you have disability income? If so, what is the total family income? Is disability income included on FAFSA? It would be on CSS profile.
