When a schools says "approx. 1 page" do they mean single or double spaced

<p>I'm working on an essay I procrastinated majorly on, and I have a question about the length. It says that it should be approximately one page, but does that mean one page single spaced, one page double spaced, one page 1.5 spaced, or what? It's the sort of thing where I just paste it into a box (instead of uploading the document), so it doesn't have to be exact or anything, but I don't want it to be too short...I have 186 (I think) words currently, and that's about 1/2 page double spaced or 1/4 page single spaced...</p>

<p>Generally it means single-spaced unless otherwise stated. If they give vague length limits though, they won't mind if you're a bit under or over.</p>

<p>Generally it means single spaced. If its the kind of prompt where you paste or type in a box (rather than upload) there may be a limit on characters.</p>
