Huh, you mean the subjective scale of the SAT doesn't mean I am more worthy than stuck-on-1700? Then how do you come by the point that animals are worthless because they aren't as quickwitted as humans? Did you subjectively decide it? If not, I'd like to hear your reasoning on why being dumber equals okay to kill. Have you heard of mentally challenged people? When I was volunteering at the special olympics one time, there was a kid/guy that could barely do a thing without help or guidance. I didn't kill him...I actually helped him. Crazy, right?

I guess you need to brush up on your biology. Your body won't function without all of the vital proteins that make up the commonly used phrase "complete proteins." It's why they are called vital.

You get your food from a variety of sources. Congratulations, that's like what vegetarians do (which I said was healthy...).

I probably don't know much about how I've lived since the seventh grade - you're right there. I also probably don't know what it takes to succeed in physical arenas either, since I have been able to run under 5 minutes in the mile and 10:30 in the 2-mile since my freshman year of hs.

Iloveagoodbrew, don't think your months of browsing the forums at bodybuilding.com or the handful of books you might have read compares to the knowledge I have accumulated over the last five years of my life.

Animals are worthy. They make a good meal. They don't have any rights, since rights are only a concept that applies to humans (because of man's capacity to reason...rights are the code that allows him to function in society without the threat of coercion..a bit complex, but I summed it up). Why bring up that 'analogy'? It makes absolutely no sense. And yes, you can go without all the different amino acids. You will have protein deficiency, but you'll live. Vegetarians exclude meats, dairies, etc. They don't get food from various sources.

You don't think animals can reason? When my dog discovered that by pushing his nose against the door in a specific place he can sometimes open it, that had nothing to do with "the mental powers concerned with forming conclusions, judgments, or inferences?"

I guarantee you that there are many animals that are smarter than many mentally handicapped people. You have failed to comment on this. No one would dare injure or otherwise harm a mentally challenged person. It's even against the LAW. Yet many of those same mentally challenged people have been scientifically PROVEN to be less intelligent than many animals. Yet, it is somehow okay to harm animals simply because they look different.

Yes, you can go without ALL of the different amino acids, but the "VITAL" amino acids are the ones you CANNOT live without. They are referred to by doctors as "VITAL" (also called "essential") because they are the CORE amino acids WITHOUT which you will DIE. That is because your cells REQUIRE them to FUNCTION.

VEGETARIANS eat anything that is not meat. (i.e. dairy, eggs)

VEGANS only eat food that doesn't come from animals. (i.e. rice, beans)

Extensive knowledge indeed...

dude, iloveagoodbrew...calm down...no one is forcing you to be vegetarian here. it's ok to eat meat...please calm down and stop flaming. eating meat is fine, and so is being vegetarian. nobody is right or wrong here. I myself am a happy meat eater who knows many happy lifelong vegetarians.

As for the absurd protein argument:
"Animal protein contains all nine of the essential amino acids, so it has been referred to as a "complete" protein. The nine essential amino acids can also be found in plant proteins, however no single plant source contains all nine of them. Therefore, plant protein has been referred to as "incomplete."

It was once widely believed that vegetarians had to carefully combine plant protein sources in each meal in order to obtain all nine essential amino acids. However, scientific studies have shown that the human body can store essential amino acids and combine them as necessary. So, while combining beans and rice, or peanut butter and bread produces a complete protein, its not necessary to consciously do this at every meal. If you eat a varied diet and adequate calories, combining proteins is not an issue."

a deficiency is when you aren't getting enough. A deficiency doesn't refer to not getting the amino acid AT ALL. Yes, you can survive with a deficiency and be unhealthy. You cannot survive without getting the amino acid at all.

magic mokey, you are missing a vital point. you and I are both Human..we are on the same level in the FOOD chain. You and I can eat other animals under us (but I'm guessing that you're vegitarian.) The fact that you think you are smarter than me is irrelevant. You may be so (although I doubt it, SAT scores are not an IQ test) , but that has nothing to do with what we r talking about.

BTW, my SAT score isn't 1700 (it's 1830). laugh all you want, I'm satisfied with it and that's all that matters.

No, YOU are missing the point. The superiority of humans does not make it alright for us to kill whatever we want. How is that any different than people being superior within our own species?? You think you're equal to someone who is much smarter and/or physically capable than you just because your bodies are formed along the same lines?

People say skin color doesn't matter (and it doesn't). But somehow the line is MAGICALLY drawn right there. Once there's a bigger difference than just skin color people are like "oh, well, well, hurting's okay then."

What don't you understand? MANY types of animals have been PROVEN through multiple studies to have intelligence levels of young human children. THEY JUST LOOK DIFFERENT. If what somebody looks like makes them inferior, then I know about a clan you might like to join.

By the way, if you don't think a 400 point difference on an SAT doesn't indicate some kind of intelligence gap, then I also have a bridge to sell you.
I promise you, it's no coincidence that the best universities, with the smartest students, have the highest SAT scores. But what do I know? If you keep on saying it enough then it'll be true.
But see? According to your logic, it doesn't matter whether you're satisfied with your score or not; maybe an animal is satisfied w/ having the IQ of a 3 year old. The only thing that matters, according to you, is what people with superior scores think. Why? Because if they think they're superior then they can arbitrarily decide your life isn't worth squat.

and it's vegEtarian. It's not hard. Like vegEtable.

iloveagood brew, maybe I should have said, "Most people get more protein than their body needs."
Although the high acidity of animal protein can cause your body to lose more calcium than it gains. So... I stand by my point.

Whatever. I find this thread amusing.

A monkey burger would be tasty.

It's always interesting to see what people say after they lose a debate.

never tried to argue. I could care less if cows, chickens, fish or pigs can reason or not. All i know is they are tasty.

when did I ever say that animals are dumb? okay, they think. big deal! like hobofromdowntown said, they taste nice and they are there to be eaten (where did you come up with a sn like that hobo?)
if i said "kill them" or sounded a little insensitive, it was only to prove a point..don't take it personally.
and an extra 400 pts on a test means that you study more than I, not that you are smarter than I am. As I said before, I like my score the way it is..I couldn't care less if someone has a higher score.

Interesting to see how ignorant and arrogant people can be behind their keyboards.
