My friend has received the acceptance letter for UC Irvine on the 5th of February but I have not. I am quite worried that my application has not been reviewed or something. Should I be worried?

I wouldn’t worry about it, many of my friends (who are very smart) haven’t gotten anything either so just be patient! It should come by the end of March, I believe :)

But I don’t quite understand why my friend has received the acceptance letter but not me!?!?

That is just how it works, don’t worry about it. They will accept people throughout the next couple months. My friend didn’t receive her acceptance letter until the last week / days they were sending them out, which was the end of March.
They have thousands of emails/letters to send out, so they are not going to submit them all on one day.

Seriously, don’t worry too much. Only like 4 kids at my school (including myself) got accepted so far, but it doesn’t mean that others won’t. The acceptances come in waves.

My daughter just received admission to UC Irvine! We’re so excited! We logged into her “My Admissions Application” and there it was! Her major is biomedical engineering; she lives in San Diego. This must be the start of the second wave? Good luck everyone!

I just got accepted this morning via email.
It was really unexpected, to be notified this early. Only a couple other kids have heard word from Irvine this early. One kid got accepted to Berkeley already, too. I don’t know how to explain why, though.

@ troy; congrats! same here! are they notifying us by the order of highest/best rated/most wanted applicants, or is it random? my stats pale in comparison to my peers so i’m shocked to find out so early as well.
and about that kid who got into cal… is he/she a total smarty? :P

Well congrats to those who have been accepted! I am still waiting for mine :(

You will get a notification letter last week of march/first week of april (maybe email)…
I go to UC Irvine and I got my letter in early April, I remember being worried and singing “To the NAVY” when people would ask me what I was doing, just relax and see what happens.

P.S. your friend got an earlier letter because he/she must have been in the top 10 at your high school or top 6% I think it is. A lot of people get earlier letters to get them in the honors program which is basically a lot more work to do ur BS degree and they put an H somewhere in the title

I notified of my acceptance online on February 1, but didn’t get my letter until the end of February.
I think that the order of notification is random. My stats are decent, but a lot of my friends with far better stats haven’t gotten in yet.

I talked to an admissions person the other day, and she said that besides the time restrictions between freshman acceptance/rejection and transfer acceptance/rejection, everything else was pretty random - no A to Z (name) method, people w/TAG vs. no TAG, major, etc. So honestly, we just all gotta wait patiently!

Wish I would actually take my own advice! Lol, I’ve been checking my status every day since mid february :P

I’m hoping they tell us this week or next week. ahhh the wait is so nerve wracking.

My friends got in a long time ago since they qualified for the ELC program, so they automatically get in once they apply (for UCI, UCD, and UCSB) >.<

Congrats to those that got in :D
