When are RD Decisions announced?

And, is it by email, website or snail mail? Also are FA decisions announced simultaneously?

I think the website says end of March/first of April. And since they don't have an online log-in, I'm guessing it's by snail mail, but we don't actually know! I HOPE they announce FA--it's sure important for the decision-making. Yipes!

From the 2008 admissions decision thread. Please realize that this was from last's year's threads and I have no idea if it applies to 2009:

"The Bowdoin admissions director has publicly stated that the early writes will be sent out in the second week in March (that would be March 10 - 14) while the other decisions will be sent out in the last week in March (that would be March 24 - 28)."

Also, from that thread was a link to this 2008 article:
Slight increase in apps for 2012

I also noted two dates:
1) On March 19, 2008 a member mentioned that they got their decision a few days ago (matches the idea of an earlier round).
2) The next date was a rejection noted on March 29, 2008 (the second round of mailings?).

Are only athletes sent early writes? Or do students with academic hooks get them as well?

Two years ago my son got an early write-he was not an athlete

I hope I can get an early write so I don't feel this tense and nervous... :(

Athletes are generally admitted through the early decision process. Early writes tend to go those with academic hooks and URM status . .

so there are early writes here. i was actually wondering that because i got one from Williams yesterday and i had no clue they existed. i was so excited!

do all the LACs do them?

just so you know all mail comes by snail mail (no email notifications unless you are an international student). and i think they should arrive somewhere around march. 31st or april 1st. good luck!

For those of getting notifications from this thread. Two CC early writes reported today. So they did go out again this year. D is one of the two and she is no type of recruited athlete.

Personally, I prefer snail mail; it mitigates the suspense.

smoda61: Actually I think there were a few people who got early writes (more than two). I received my early write on the 17th and I am not an athlete either. Did your daughter get invited to Experience Bowdoin 2009?

colinization: I agree! Well, for the past few days checking mail has become like a ritual to me. lol
