When are the FA awards out?

Because I haven’t got mine yet. I deferred a year, and am hoping they did not forget about me. =(

You should call the FA office, I think.

Our tentative award letter said…

Tentative Award Letter
The accompanying Financial Aid Memorandum presents a tentative financial aid award for the 2009-10 academic year. A financial aid award letter will be sent in June to confirm our analysis of your family contribution and your award for the coming year.

So I’m not expecting anything further until June. But it couldn’t hurt to call.

Nadash, did you send in all the required forms, documents, etc? I believe there was an April 25th deadline for renewal of aid for continuing students. I would guess you might fall more into that catagory than an first-time applicant. I’m not sure though. Best to check with the FA office. In any case, those applying for renewal of aid, although there was that April 25 deadline, can apply still. I think there are some modest late fees if the renewal of aid apps come in late, but it doesn’t sound like the door is totally closed or anything.

But then maybe you’ve gotten all that in already. If not, don’t assume what your were awarded last year when you deferred will automatically be there now. Since all aid is need-based, all students receiving aid must establish their level of need anew each year.

My kid will be a sophomore next year, and we got everything submitted for renewal of aid, but haven’t heard anything back yet. I have been thinking we probably wouldn’t until sometime in June/July or thereabouts.

Well, on the page, everything is either received or waived. Is the purple tab at the side supposed to say 2008/2009?

Nadash, that was last year. It should be for 2009-2010. As 'rentof2 stated, you should call Financial Aid.

Emailed them actually, a long time ago–no reply.

I have found emails to colleges often go unanswered. Not just Amherst, but quite a few other schools too. You do need to phone them if you haven’t submitted an application for aid specifically for 2009-10.
