When college say the deadline is Jan 20th

For example, if University of Maryland says that Jan 20th is the deadline, does that mean you have to give in your application before that day, or can you give it ON that day?

The reason I waited so long was since the applications are rolling applications. I know that sending it earlier is better, but i have a unique situation. My GPA in Junior year was pretty bad (all b’s), but my GPA in senior year has been all A’s. Thus I want to be able to send my midyear report before they can make a decision.

<p>most schools only require that the app be mailed domestically or completed online by the deadline. But, to make sure, I suggest calling UM's admission office. (I checked their website and could not find anything about mailing...)</p>

<p>Usually that's the postmark date, so you can send it ON that date. Otherwise it'd be very difficult to gauge when to send it for them to get it on time.</p>
