When colleges post - you'll be notified by a specific date do they stick to that date

<p>Just wondering - when colleges post specific dates for ED, EA and RD do they really stick to these dates? I imagine the deadlines are accurate to submit materials but when they say Notification Date and list a specific date does that usually mean on that date or anytime between when the applications are due and that date?</p>

<p>No. The notification dates can vary widely. Sometimes by months and months.</p>

<p>What do you think? The dates are the goals by which they put out -- and to their best efforts the schools will try to stick to them. Certainly today w/many many notifications done online, they'd only shoot themselves in the foot (and give a leg up to their competitor schools) by not meeting the notification deadlines.</p>
