@kaylamissy I was told that Bridge housing was going to move Fall 2018.
I think acceptance, including Bridge, letters went out Friday and Saturday. Sometime mail takes several days and sometimes in state mail takes one day. Last year a zip code near us took about 3 extra days than others. Of course, out of state will take an extra day or two. I’m not sure about non-acceptance letters.
Son got Bridge letter yesterday. 3.63 UW 4.593 SC UGP GPA, Top 20% class rank at very competitive Columbia high school. Varsity athlete, Boys State, PT employment, 1330 SAT (690 Math) 9 AP classes. Got merit scholarship money from USC, Ole Miss, UT Knoxville.
One of my friends had about a 1300 SAT 4.9/5.0 GPA with dual enrollment at another college and amazing extra curriculars with a lot of community service… I don’t get it
@WhoaBigFella Your son has great stats! What major did he choose for Clemson?
@girl1998 Your friend has great stats, too! Do you know the major?
She applied to Biology… I know this is one the harder majors but clemson gives u the option of putting down a back up…
They give you the choice on the application when you apply (excuse grammatical errors)
@girl1990 I’m curious as to what the OOS acceptance rate will be this year. I’m not sure if the SC state colleges have a cap. I believe the UNC schools cap at 17%. I believe Clemson was in 36-37% OOS.
@girl1990 Those states were for the current academic year.
@SCLADY12 He applied for BioChem. Someone from admissions stated that he should have no problem getting in with that major.
I have heard they did get about 4,000 more applicants this year than last. Not sure if that’s accurate but that’s a lot
more competition. And @WhoaBigFella He can always appeal the decision if he wants to try. We have known several successful at this.
@WhoaBigFella totally astonished your son didn’t get in I’m hoping there was a misprint in the stats you posted or really nobody is safe. Tomorrow is going to be a very long day here waiting for the mail to come.
@girl1998 ECs are not taken into consideration for acceptance . GPA, test scores , rank and rigor is what is considered . Majors also play a big factor.
@charlestonmom His stats are accurate. His being an in-state white male probably doesn’t help.
@WhoaBigFella What probably hurt him was his class rank and his test score . 1330 is equivalent to a 28 on the ACT which is right at the 50% for Clemson.
1330 is in the 91st percentile… this would not hurt someone like this for most colleges. I’m sorry but clemson is a good school, but not as competitive as UVA or UNC…
@girl1998 a score of 1330 is equivalent to a 28 ACT which is in the 50th percentile for applicants at Clemson. You need to look at scores in regards to other applicants , not what percentile they fall into. It’s all supply and demand . No applicant is admitted on their merits alone. They are admitted based on how they compare to the applicant pool that year . Until the numbers come out, it’s hard to determine how competitive Clemson is this year .
