When do I ask professors for research opportunities during the summer?

Hello CCer's! I am currently a junior in high school and I am planning on asking various professors around my city (NY) to allow me to do some neuroscience research with them during the summer. However, I do not know when to ask. If I ask now, I fear that they will forget about me, but if I ask later, I fear that they will not let me research with them. When would be a good time to ask? Also, should I attach a copy of my resume? Thank you!!

Now definitely. Better to be certain that you’ll have a research spot. They probably won’t forget… and if they do, they can’t take away your research spot if they’ve already consented. Remember to keep in touch. Ask them if you need to read up on any topics, what the smear schedule will be, etc.

Thanks for the advice! Do you think I should attach a resume, though?

Hmmm… Good question. I am as inexperienced as you, but I think you should ask in your first email if the professor would like to see your full r
