Hello CCer's! I am currently a junior in high school and I am planning on asking various professors around my city (NY) to allow me to do some neuroscience research with them during the summer. However, I do not know when to ask. If I ask now, I fear that they will forget about me, but if I ask later, I fear that they will not let me research with them. When would be a good time to ask? Also, should I attach a copy of my resume? Thank you!!

As an undergraduate freshman, I made a lot of mistakes regarding research opportunities. So don’t be like me, and:

1) If you are applying to any research internships (which I suggest you do), ask for letters of recommendation right now and submit at least 2 weeks earlier than the deadline.
2) In your email, include a quick story on how you came to wanting to study neuroscience. (family has Alzheimer’s, loved neurons in biology class, etc.)
3) Ask right now, because tomorrow is too late. Honestly, I can’t be pretty sure but I’m pretty sure that professors get tons of these kinds of emails throughout Winter Break.

Thanks for the advice!
Do you think I should attach a resume, though?
