When do I find out if I was accepted??? and do I find out thru email, mail, etc.?
After you submit your applications, each Cal State and UC will send information on setting up your application login account so you can track your application status and any needed/missing information to complete your application.
Depending upon your stats, you could hear from some of the Cal States as early as December/January with an acceptance. Most Cal States start notifying around February-April.
For the UC’s, only UCB may ask for Letters of Recommendation, so they could be sending you an email to submit any LOR’s anytime between now and January. The UC’s notify applicants of the acceptances usually in March. UCB does some early acceptances in February (Regent scholars) and UCI notifies (Regent scholars and Honors College) students at the end of February.
Some of the UC’s do rolling acceptances like UCI/UCR/UCSD/UCM. Some of the UC’s designate a day where all applicants will be notified in March: UCD, UCSB, UCLA, UCSC.
You will get an email notification to check your application portal.
