Just wondering when I'll hear what community I got and who my roommates are. Do they send a letter or is there way to check it online.

You should get an email in a few weeks saying to go to the reslife website to check which community you were placed in. If you don’t hear by July please contact reslife. During August, probably towards the beginning of the month, you should get another email saying your room assignment and the contact information for your roommate and suitemates (if you are in a suite).

Is it ever possible to change your hosing assignment if you’re not happy with it? They assigned me an apartment for fall and I really wanted a dorm. How far away are the apartments from campus? Can you change housing after the first semester or do you have to keep it the whole year?

is there a way to find out a future roommate?

CC81- here is a campus map – [SUNY-Binghamton University Campus Map](http://www.binghamton.edu/maps/campus.html)
the two apt communities (susquehanna and hillside) are in the upper right hand corner. they are on campus, but a bit further from things than the other on-campus dorms. the ease of changing housing assignments will probably depend on how crowded things are – last fall there was so much tripling of freshmen (and even freshmen who started the year living in lounges!) i don’t think there was much room for reassignments other than trying to move some of those freshmen around – and i think most stayed in triples the entire year. i have no idea how things are looking for this coming fall. you can certainly inquire about moving – but you may find you like the apt.

jb12 – some point over the summer, roommates are posted so that you could see them when you logged on to the reslife website – the reslife website says this will happen sometime in august. you should have plenty of time to contact your future roommate(s) before you get to school.

CC81 - There’s also a shuttle on campus to get you from the union (the center of campus) to the apartment communities. It’s not too too far, and they actually have a really nice view on the way up. If you’re really unhappy, I would contact ResLife about it, the worst they can say is that there’s no way to change but at least then you asked!
