When do i need to decide my major?

<p>Here are the schools i plan to apply to
Harvard, stanford, datmouth, brown/northwestern/columbia, ucla, uc sandiego, university of rochester
can any one tell me when these colleges expect students to decide their future major? cuz i heard that some colleges expect students to decide by freshmen year, while others give more time n freedom</p>
