when do most premed students medical schools ?

<Empty imported post>

I just finished my first year as a pre-med. I have two questions:

when do most premed students start their med school applications ? 3rd or 4th year ?

when do most premed tudents take MCAT first time ? 3rd or 4th year ?

Thanks

Summer between 3rd and 4th year if they’re planning on going to medical school straight from undergrad. The next summer if they’re planning on taking a year out.

Most probably take the MCAT somewhere between the end of their second year and the (early) summer between third and fourth year. Now that the MCAT is given many times a year (before 2007, it was only given a couple of times a year), people have a little more wiggle room as to when they take the test. So it depends on when they have finished the course requirements, when they can fit in a study course (if applicable), and when they feel they’ve got the time to study for it. And, again, this is if a student is planning on going straight from undergrad to medical school. Those who are planning a gap year can alter their schedules more.

ginnyvere,

thanks
