When do PSAT scores come out?

For anyone else trying to figure out what year the percentiles are based on (I may be the only one who cares!), I think I answered my own question from my previous post. The “Understanding 2011” report says it is based on a “sample” of students who took the PSAT in 2011. The “Understanding 2012” report leaves out the word sample. So perhaps the slight discrepancy is based on the 2011 percentiles being based on a sample of 2011 PSAT test takes while the 2012 percentiles are based on all 2011 PSAT test takers.

Our scores were distributed on Friday.

I am using them for summer school program applications.

Our school says that it has still not received the 2013 PSAT score reports as of this morning. We are located on the west coast (despite my user name). Do you think that some schools have still not received their score reports, or are they likely just withholding them until the break?

DD’15 says they were handed out this morning…she went to school late so she will bring them home later!

i am homeschooled and have yet to receive my scores

Is there anyway to predict the commended score? My girls just got their scores and one got a 200 and the other a 202 ugh! It should be almost impossible to end up with both of them in the questionable range of scores!

My best guess is that the commended cutoff for this year will be lower than 203 (last years cutoff). Since last year was one of the highest historical cutoffs, I would be willing to bet that the percentiles experience at least a slight decrease. Your daughter with the 202 is almost guaranteed a letter of commendation. As for your daughter with the 200, you’ll just have to wait and see.

We are in AZ. D’s school is not handing out the score reports until next week, but I got her GC to tell me her score over the phone: 225. Yay!

My son’s score dropped from a 210 last year to a 200 this year. His writing score went down a ton, which makes no sense because that was always easy for him before. He got a 73 CR, 67 M, 60 W. 96th percentile. We are in Texas.

Thank you to all the readers who posted scores, it’s been good to know how everyone is doing, both the good and the bad. Caspiancat, not sure my private message to you went through, but thank you for the info you sent me.

Omg we just got our scores at school today!

221 - 69, 78, 74

I’m so happy! Living in Texas, I think I have pretty high chances…

collegefind, we’re in the same boat with the Writing–it’s always been the easiest for my D and she had a 77 last year but this year had only a 70. Her Math score went up (since she had a lot of tutoring and a year of Algebra2/Trig plus 2 months of Pre-Calc) but her CR went down a point as well.

Just wondering whether the test this year was harder and maybe that will mean a change in the percentiles? And cutoffs lower than last year’s?

Our school still has not received scores as of last night. West coast.

@crepes

This year’s test was harder. After studying during the summer, I took last year’s test (I did not remember anything about that test) and I scored pretty high - 73, 80, 77. I mean this year’s test was pretty hard compared to that test, so you have no reason to worry if your score is good enough. I mean if you are in Texas and you got a 215/216, you don’t have to deny yourself of National Merit - you have a good chance of making it. This works for any state you live in. Good luck :)

233!
CR - 73 (-3)
M - 80
W - 80
slipped up on the vocab ):

219 in Ohio. Haven’t gotten my paper results back; it’s just been updated on my school account. So relieved.

D is still waiting for her scores. She is a homeschooler, but took at the local high school. She used her state homeschool code. When we tried to register on college board site, we got an error message that said that was not a good code! I checked and rechecked and then checked several more times. I scoured the internet… yep, it’s the same code everywhere I look.
Is anyone else still waiting? When should we call? (posted this in another topic as well – sorry if that is wrong, we are just anxious!)

Our school (on the west coast) said they just got the reports on Thursday (12/12) and were too busy to match them with the test booklets until after winter break.

Many schools don’t have them yet and here it is the 19th. Our school told us they are still piled high in a warehouse on the east coast.

PSAT says they were overwhelmed by the massive increase in test-takers. The old “We’re successful so we can’t provide good service” line.

I am not completely confident in PSAT or the process.

So based on the link above, a 219 in California will be commended but it doesn’t make the cut of 223 for a National Merit Scholar. Is that right?

No one really knows what will make the cut yet until we start hearing about them late August 2014 for class of 2015.

The numbers spiked high in 2011, went back down in 2012, spiked quite high in 2013 again. We will just have to wait although I have seen some number crunchers in the past make state by state predictions based on some knowledge they gleaned.
