Does anyone know when we will find out if we in or not? I know their website days April 1st, but does anyone know if they mail the letters on this day or if we should have them by this date? Maybe some past past Reed acceptees could shed some light on this issue...

A month or two go I avidly searched through both last year's decision thread and the decision thread of the year before. It seems that both last year and the year before they sent out emails to accepted students around the 29th or 30th, and the snail mail came later. I don't remember whether or not they eventually emailed rejections or waitlists to people. But, if the past is any indication, accepted applicants will probably find out around March 30th by email, and maybe this year they'll email everyone at the same time.

I hate the waiting. I really hope they just email everyone at the same time this year and get it all over with.

I thought Reed only sends response letter by snail mail. So if we are accepted, we will find out sooner. So cool! And in that case, silence would be a reply too...

Thanks for the help! I can't wait to find out!

So, Reed will email their admissions decisions this year???

On Friday, March, 30, 2007, at 5:37 PM, son got an email saying, "There's some important news about your admission to Reed" with a URL. When you used the URL it took you to a web page with flash animation proclaiming acceptance to the school.

So, they don't email the decision, they email you a link to the decision website. They did it last year, I'm sure they'll do it again this year. The actually admissions letter arrived the following Monday, April 2, 2007. It took longer for people who lived further away from Portland. (We're on the west coast.)

So, by now they have probably made their decisions right?

So if I don't get an email around the 30th/31st, should I assume rejection?

Only if you have been getting email from Reed, such that you know they have your correct email address, and nothing goes wrong with your email delivery (spam filter, etc.). It might also mean waitlist.

However, some accepted applicants will likely post here after they receive the email, so we'll know when they start going out.

Our D's was sent to her Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in the afternoon.

yep, they are done with the decisions.. and don't worry if you don't get the email, i didn't get it either. I heard some people got called to inform them about their acceptance :)

They just put a press release up on their website (link below)

Highlights from the press release:

31.9% acceptances, record number of applications (3,484)
Admitted class has an average SAT score of 1409, ACT of 31
Average weighted GPA is 4.039
18% of admitted students are valedictorians, 76% in top 10% of their h.s. class
30.8% of admitted students are students of color
11% first in their family to attend a four year college

Reed College | Reed College Class of 2012 Competitively Selected, Diverse Group

I really wish that at the end, they added "And .001% of admitted students are Adaman." Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer to find out :P

So nerve-wracking...

Reed has just been ascending in terms of selectivity and competition...That's a very impressive selection of students.

I want to know!!!!! Why can't they hurry up and email us!!! :(

<3 Reed. Seriously...

Oy, so last year they were emailed around 6...in the next two more hours, hopefully?

Thanks for the link to the press release.

Emailed around 6 PST, yeah (PST is the right way to say that... right? I'm an ignorant Easterner >_>). So that's 9 EST... I keep thinking, "Okay, I'll go play a game of Rainbow Six or something, and then maybe in 20-30 minutes when I come back, they'll have sent out the emails."

Just tried that... doesn't work haha.

And yeah, thanks for the link! I probably wouldn't have found that for a while.

I think last year they started sending e-mails around 6 PST, but more kept trickling out for several hours. That's how it looks on last year's thread anyway.

Oh wow. Right after I posted that they sent me an e-mail.

I'm wait-listed, apparently. I'm actually kind of happy because I thought I'd be rejected.

!! I haven't gotten anything...
