when do we get scores back?

Are they posted online? Do the writing scores come later?

They would be posted online on 4/7/09

Thanks. So that includes writing scores with the essay? ACT scores come back much sooner after the testing date…

Yes, it includes the essay. All you have to do is log in to collegeboard that day, and go here: [College Admissions - SAT & SAT Subject Tests](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools) and click “view and send scores”. You’ll see a shaded box with your SAT score broken down.

Wow, why does it take longer than usual this time to get scores back? Is it because there are an unusually large number of people who take March SAT, and thus the essay graders need more time?

It’s because this is the first one to have score choice.

really? the march test is the first one to have score choice??

Makes sense, lockn. Anyone know how we use score choice? I still haven’t seen any options for it.

***, so i’m not going to know how i did before march 31st (regular deadline to register for May). That strikes me as unreasonable, what if I pwned the march SAT and there’s no need to retake? (I will probably retake) but still!

^That’s the point. Collegeboard wants to take your money by either having you pay the late fee or sign up then cancel your registration because you find out you did well.

Elaborate? Score choice deals with sending your scores to college; it is irrelevant in the grading process and shouldn’t be the cause of a longer scoring period.

This is stupid, why so long… :(

isnt it usually about 3 weeks?

It’s usually two weeks and five days (or third Thursday after the test), but this time it’s three weeks and three days (fourth Tuesday after the test).

Five days longer than usual. :frowning: That’s quite a lot of time.

[QUOTE=The College Board]
Due to enhancements to SAT registration and the launch of a new score-reporting process, scores from the March SAT administration will be available online beginning on Tuesday, April 7, and paper/CD-ROM reports will be mailed by April 21. This will ensure that scores are received and processed in a systematic, reliable fashion. May SAT scores will be reported, as scheduled, beginning on May 21.

From the website.

So how are you guys going to cope with the waiting period till you get your scores?

aghh i know i got -6 CR, and a few on writing … 1 for sure in math but probably more because i ALWAYS misread something. tho i had PLENTY of time at the end of all math sections, even the experimental. i actually sort of enjoyed the math … strange enough.

well i’m retaking the sat in june (cuz i know for SURE i didn’t make it past 2300), so the deadline doesn’t really affect me. and i’m taking subj tests in may.

IMP Q: will i be able to see scores on april 7th as 12 am EST? or is it 5-6am (that’s when ppl in NY could see the jan sat scores)?

^ I believe 5-6 AM.

although it’s a long wait, why not just get your subject tests out of the way for the next registration then?

on the CB website, scores are online on april 7

It’s been about this long to score the tests ever since the SAT became a three-section test with a handwritten essay. Scoring the essays by human beings takes longer than machine-scoring the multiple choice parts of the test. The typical test dates and the typical test registration deadline have been the same for a lot longer. It used to be possible to get a score from a January test and then sign up for a March test before the regular registration deadline, but the new three-section SAT takes longer to score.
