btw, anybody heard from SFCM, i heard those who got in were invited for a lesson. is that true?

UC2008, I hope not! I auditioned in NYC (regional) Friday- would they have really made up their minds about everyone so quickly? Ah this makes me nervous. Hopefully it’s just a rumor… :(

Both of our envelopes are thin–one page in length.

Oh and here’s the NASM guidelines on notification of admission, financial aid, etc. Basically the “industry standard” for commitments is May 1 for undergrad, and April 15 for grad, so schools then pace it out a month prior (April 1/March 15). So you can expect to hear no later than those dates. And your commitment to attend a school is not binding until the deadline has passed:

D received her acceptance from U Mich via Wolverine online access within 2 weeks of her auditions. Letter form came later with one piece of paper. I can’t recall whether the SOM scholarship came in separately or is included in the acceptance letter. The scholarships were also indicated in Walverine access. SOM scholarship came first, then the U Mich scholarship. No, D did not apply for dual degree.

A concurrent thread, with some links to prior year’s experiences. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/872066-waiting-letters-killing-me.html

You might glean some info there, but realize what happened before timing wise may not carry forward.

Another indicator may be the date of addition for specific schools (or disciplines/instruments) added to the previous years’ Master Lists.

None of this may tell you anything, but at least it might provide something to do whilst waiting for the mail, be it of “e” or “snail” variant.

Good luck to all!

has anyone heard anything from Boston Conservatory? I just received an e-mail from one of the faculty asking whether i was still considering the school and to probably call him. is this a good sign?

Probably a good dign, UC, definitely tell him you’re interested… but it’s not an acceptance yet.

I recieved my call from Purchase on Sunday night.

Anyone know when decisions come out from Manhattan School of music?

If they are anything like last year, Manhattan will start sending out decisions toward the end of March. There were something like 8 acceptances at Manhattan SOM in last year’s master acceptance thread and the first of them was reported on March 30. Of course, they could be operating on a different schedule this year…

UC2008 - Just returned from Boston hours ago, a long harrowing story included later. Son interviewed on Sunday, a special day they included as they had so many Comp. students apply. When he checked his email upon return today (Tuesday) the head of Dept. said they had sent his name for acceptance to School and they usually will follow through with the acceptance. Those aren’t the exact words but the “jist” so maybe that is what your prof. is hinting at. BTW we spent a lovely afternoon Sunday at Sander’s Theatre in Cambridge where Boston Conservatory Orchestra played four pieces preceded by lecture from Theory faculty. Regarding our trip home… after visiting NEC on Monday we boarded the last flight to Chicago at 8:15 and halfway there flew back to Boston due to heavy fog in Chicago’s Midway Airport. This was our last flight, our last college, and we had literally been on the road 9 days… But as son said, at least it wasn’t on our way to an interview! Good luck UC2008, the new building looks almost done!

Thanks, Bassdad… so no early relief in sight… I guess I am back to the red wine therapy!

I don’t think there is enough red wine…this is AGONY.

There may be, however, enough cake.

Hey folks - it could be worse! Curtis Comp applicants are still waiting to get audition invitations.

Just found out that Lawrence Conservatory decisions will be mailed on March 18th.

S just heard that he got into his safety - so maybe I can put this d**n cake down. Oh, what the heck. There’s only a couple of slices left… My heart goes out to mtiger1 and your applicant.

Seriously… will March never end??? It CANNOT only be March 12, can it? The wine’s not working, gonna have to move on to the hard stuff… chocolate!

Congratulations datripp!! Glad you are getting some relief!

Boston Conservatory decisions should go out next week, according to the admissions office.

Still haven’t heard from Westminster or Crane, and it’s been more than their estimated 2 weeks, which is what they said at admissions.

I know NEC is always notoriously late…

And has everyone heard from Purchase by now? Or are there still some programs that haven’t gotten anything yet?

"Seriously… will March never end??? "
To answer your question: NO March never ends. Your student will always be waiting on some sort of audition. ;)

Sopranorose, I haven’t heard from purchase yet (BM, violin). However, they lost my transcripts and had me re-send them about a week before my audition. I’m not currently in high school, so the guidance office is pretty slow. It’s possible they only received them last week or so, even though i put in the request the day purchase contacted me about it! That may or may not be the reason for the holdup. One of the teachers gave my teacher very positive comments about my audition, so hopefully I will get in!
