Does Admissions look at RD applications that arrive early (pre-Nov 1 or even Nov 2) before mid-Dec (when EA decisions are announced)? Or, does Admissions wait to look at these applications until after EA decisions are announced?
I would assume that they have enough on their plate reviewing EA applications. Once EA decisions are made, they may skim some RD applications, but since the deadline is 1/1, and they will want to compare all applicants from a HS/region, my guess is that they’re focusing on winding down for the holidays.
I was wondering the same thing. I have heard of a few kids at our HS who are REA at other schools, but submitted their MIT applications prior to Nov 1, even though they are applying RD. I wonder if MIT will look at their applications (they are very strong) now or put them a pile to consider in January.
Maybe @MITChris can help with an answer.
we don’t read RA cases until after Jan 1
