If I get accepted to a college on April 1st, will I get the financial aid package in before May 1st? Also what does a financial aid package have in it? Do they just send you how much you will be getting in grants, or do they send you your net price…
If you submitted all your forms ON TIME…you will get your aid with or shortly after your acceptance.
Did you check their NPC? At least you will learn what would be in the FA package from it. For schools with April 1 release, you should see the FA package within a week or so. Nevertheless, the early package is usually an estimate as tuition rate may change and they may still need to verify some documents over the summer.
Your other threads say you’re a FL resident with excellent stats (1300+ SAT and 3.9 UW GPA) but you have divorced parents who don’t want to pay. That’s a difficult position to be in. Colleges that use the CSS Profile will consider your mom’s $50k income and whatever your dad earns. FAFSA only schools will consider only your mom’s.
Did you apply to any FL colleges? Do you qualify for any state aid? You may get a small Pell Grant and you can take the ~$5500/year federal student loan. And if you work summers you can probably earn another $3k. Are there any FAFSA only schools on your list whose Net Price Calculator gives you a net cost of ~$10k? If not, are there any schools that you can commute to from home?
I applied to UF and UCF and I got into both. I don’t know if I qualify for state aid, I only qualified for a Stafford loan from FAFSA. UF and UCF are the only FAFSA only schools I applied to, and in the end I think I will end up at one of them since at this point I don’t think I can afford anywhere else. I can commute to UCF if needed, I have a full bright futures scholarship for both UCF and UF which covers all tuition, and I got $10,000 scholarship from UCF for the first year. It just makes me sad that if I get accepted to one of my dream schools I won’t be able to go because of the cost. Thank you for your reply
Many students can’t go to their first choice because of money. You should be happy that you are able to go to a top ranked school without paying tuition.
