When do Financial Aid Packages Arrive usually?

My dad has been out of work for a year and a half so I'm hoping to receive some hefty financial aid or I may not be able to go to college. I was wondering when Financial Aid packages usually arrive. I got a letter of acceptance from University of Miami-Coral Gables today and it had a scholarship offer, but no financial aid. Anyone know when most universities send out financial aid offers? Specifically, University of Miami?

They have started arriving for many of the rolling and EA schools, you could certainly ask the colleges you’ve been accepted at when they will send the aid letters/packages.

Actually you can add a small zing to your question, as in

Dear Admissions and Financial Aid Staff,
I received notification that I am admitted to U of M for the fall of 2010. I am so excited as this is my first choice school. However, I have not yet received financial aid information. My father is currently unemployed and the details of the financial aid information will determine whether or not I can attend. When will financial aid information be available? Is there someone specific assigned to me? (I ask in case we have questions).
Thank you so much for your help.

So, you are asking for the info – and letting them know that you are in need – and trying to identify the person who will be holding your file.

It is always a good idea to see if you can identify one person by name who can walk you through the process. If you find “Sally” is patient and helpful and “Dottie” is surly and difficult, then you want to make sure you always deal with Sally.

Good luck!

I came to this board to ask this very question. :)

E-mailing them sounds like a good idea, especially since there’s a three hour time difference and any time I’m off work, their office will probably be shut.
