Hi,

A high school senior that I know has already finished registering for college courses over the phone for the college he intends to enter in the fall. Can someone explain to me Caltech's frosh registration process? I haven't received anything in the mail from Caltech after committing to attend besides a book full of SURF abstracts.

Thanks in advance.

You will receive something in the mail that will allow you to register.

You should have also received something that confirmed that you are attending and both an email and a mailing about WAFT and an email about calc stuff. I hear that there are packets coming out this week also by mail.

You don’t really have to worry about registering for classes first term frosh year. You’ll get a form that you fill out with some preferences for your hum and an elective or two, and mail it in. The registar’s office does everything else after that. You don’t have to worry about scheduling at all, and you don’t really have to worry about limited-enrollment classes (although some hums are limited enrollment, I think it’s random who gets in to their first choice and who doesn’t. Either way, you’re guaranteed to be in one)

i just received my packet on friday, it has a new student guide, chem diagnostic exam, something about file sharing, health forms, and other stuff. Most of the deadlines for these forms start mid june.

I received the packet too. Just nothing about registration. Oh well, we should be covered.

I actually got an email about some registration materials today, but there were no files attached…

I hope we get our UID’s sometime soon, I have a feeling we wont tho.

I received the same e-mail. Probably we’ll get something in the mail soon.
