When does Tulane’s need based aid awards come out?
In the past around the end of March.
This is on Tulane’s web site so I am expecting it to be today or soon: NOTE: 2016-17 Financial Aid data is expected to be viewable via Tulane’s Gibson Online portal on or about March 1st. At that time (March 1st), we are currently scheduled to begin sending award notification e-mails to admitted students who have applied for aid and who have been packaged with financial aid (in which the applicants are instructed to navigate to the Tulane Gibson Online portal to securely view their financial aid package).
In the past what that has meant is that the Financial Aid tab will be added to the screen of all people that have a Gibson account. It will either be blank to start, or for those that have won merit scholarships they should see them reflected there. The actual awards didn’t start going out until about mid-March (which isn’t that far away anyway) and a lot went out towards the end of March. But hey, maybe this year they will be sending out aid packages earlier. Things are always changing in one aspect or another. For sure let us know if that is so.
i think the financial aid tab has been on gibson, but within ‘fa’, the tab for the current year will likely be added sometime soon.
Just got the email. Financial Aid awards are up
Christmas on March 1.
Enjoy!
Checked my account and there’s definitely no information except about the merit award. Might be different for a few people who received an admissions decision earlier.
They won’t post all the FA decisions at once. They will post them as they work through them. I doubt there is any order in which they approach them, except maybe by when the files were complete in terms of having the information they needed.
To add some support to @fallenchemist 's theory that decisions come earlier for those who complete the documentation earlier, I submitted my FAFSA on January 1st and my CSS before that, and received my FA yesterday.
Is there a secure link to upload tax documents, etc or is it just snail mail?
I haven’t received my FA information yet but when I went into Gibson, I discovered that they had requesting copies of my tax return, W2s, etc. I never received an email from the FA office telling me that request was made so I called and talked to them. They said I would get an FA estimate by mid month and then it would be finalized after the information was received. So…for those waiting, you should hear by mid-month and if you need to provide information, they only accept snail mail. I think it goes to a processing center in New Hampshire where it’s scanned and electronically delivered to Tulane.
@deacons12 thanks, that’s why I had asked. I saw all the requested forms listed yesterday, but never received an email or msg notification from the FA office on Gibson that we were missing anything.
@Undercovermom1 Sounds like we are in the same boat (likely with many others). Hopefully we will hear something soon. My S really would like to attend Tulane but we need some help!
Hmmm, DD received her financial aid packet on line a few days ago even though it also states that we need to send in w-2s and tax return when we can. So don’t think it’s one or the other.
They mean your 2015 tax return due Apr 15 this year. I was talking about all the other forms; FAFSA, CSS, 2014 tax documents, whatever else they need that was part of last year’s tax return. They never delay FA awards because of documents concerning this year’s taxes, I don’t think. They are just reminding you that you are required to send them.
@deacons12 @Undercovermom1 There’s a note on the CSS about those documents being required by Tulane; however, Tulane does not seem to provide much information about this directly.
@fallenchemist - I agree, I was replying to the two posts above mine but wasn’t clear. I may have misread them but I thought they were implying that they hadn’t received FA info yet because their tax returns etc were outstanding, but that doesn’t seem to affect when you hear back about FA.
Good to know that preliminary FA will be processed with the FAFSA and CSS info already provided. Really hoping for some good news!
@Undercovermom1 We received our FA information yesterday. It’s certainly nice to get some FA. @fallenchemist Do the FA awards ever change…meaning are these at all negotiable. We’re not unhappy with what was offered but it’s a little lower than we had hoped. Is there any point in trying to push for a little more?
