When does Winter Quarter start?

<p>I'm looking at the calendar at it says the quarter begins January 2nd but it also says instruction begins January 7th. So would the first day of classes be on the 7th?</p>

<p>First day of quarter is for administrative purpose. It means their calendar/schedule is officially that quarter. Professor and TA also start working on the first day of the quarter.</p>
