I can't wait!!!

anyone?????

ok. go to home.nyu.edu

then, press "Need to activate your NedID account..."

type your nyu id #, the one that starts with N.......

after that, put in all the info that they ask you for

in the end, as you go through the steps, you'll finally gonna select a password. That's the most annoying part!! i'm warning you! it took me forever, cuz your name, initials, date of birth and this kind of info is not accepted, so you'll have to make up a really random password.

they'll assign you a net id. it should start w/ your initials and then some random #s which i guess come from your birth date.

your new email will look strange w/ those initials and numbers, but once you activate the account, you can change the address when you go to email-options... i forgot what's the next step, but you'll be able to find it.

*** HINT!! if u have facebook, don't forget to add nyu to your network!! that's the best part ;) Have fun!!

the greatest thing about an nyu email account is that once you log out, it says "bye" in several languages. now, i tried it and it said "sayonara." yesterday it told me "ciao" and "au revoir" :P pretty cool!

this is ONLY for accepted students correct?

yeah, it's only for accepted students.

don't try doing it if you've not been accepted yet. some of us tried to do it in december and we werent supposed to. thank God, there weren't any complications, but admissions could have done anything!! maybe reject us after having accepted us! who knows? cuz it's like manipulating nyu's system, that's y.
hope you got in, though! :)

o wait..

I just got an invitation to NYU, I have not received my formal NYU acceptance letter yet.. is that where you get your NYU ID from?

Aww man.. I have to wait 2 more weeks :(

Do you think I can call them and ask for my NYU ID directly?

Ok this is weird..

I went to https://start2.nyu.edu/ibin/getnetid1.cgi

and used my Social Security # to get my NYU ID.. but it told me that only members of the NYU Community can use it?!

This is sooo weird! I've gotten the invitation to the reception.. and I am in NYU...

:(

Don't worry! Calm down!!

Remember when NYU sent you an email, saying that they got your application? they must have given you a NYU ID #. one that starts in N......

but don't worry if it doesn't work. it didn't work for me either when i tried it in december, like, 2 days before getting my letter of admission. it worked in march, though. so i guess nyu hasn't put updates in its system, or something like that...

i suggest that you wait. you waited for so long, you can wait a little longer. after all, you're in! you got the invitation! i wouldn't worry about hte email.

(btw, i'm not a current nyu student; i'm a prospective one like you. it's just that i got in early) Congrats, to you!!! :)

oh, and yeah... you could call them, but i guess you should wait for more important things to call them. i guess the admission officers are really busy at this time. i called them for the stern scholar program and i could feel that the gentleman was in a hurry. i wouldn't call, cuz it's not worth staying on hold for such a long time. just check your email, if you received one.

Thanks so much kullucka_lh3!

You've been extremely helpful!

I don't think I've ever received a confirmation email when I turned in my application.. I'm trying to dig thru my emails to remember. I think I had to call to ask whether they have received all my application

What major are you studying kullucka_lh3? And where are you from? Can you tell me more about NYU?

thank you! :)

well, i'll tell you as much as i know. sure!

i'm planning to study finance at stern, but i'm considering double majors in economics and finance. idk!! i'll see....

i live in NY but i moved here pretty recently, though. i'm from albania (a small country in Eastern Europe)

well..... nyu... no campus. nyu = nyc! greenwhich village - great shops! close to subway if you're commuting. lol. hmmm.... what else? cheaper broadway shows as an nyu student. sth else... you can take Zulu (language) at Columbia (i read that recently. lol.). You are really close to NYSE, Wall St, Nasdaq, Madison Ave etc... study abroad... great!! as a stern student, one can go to italy (Boconni - the best school in italy), Maanstricht, Hong Kong, Manchester... everywhere. hmmm.... professors are well known; i know that the former foreign minister of mexico is a professor at nyu. however, from what i heard from videos of theu.com, academics get only an A (not A+) :(

1 - longs lines and red tape

1 - students not happy w/ fin. aid.

1 - for LGTB large community (i think)

5 - for best experience/college town (not sure about this one tough)

what else.... hmmm... i can't think of anything else right now

so if it's not yet possible for prospective/nonadmitted students to access their NetID, where do we check our admission status?
thanks in advance! :)

hmmm... idk! i never checked my status online. i dont' think nyu relies on technology that much. they send letters of admission by regular mail. at least, that's what happened w/ early admission applicants. we got our decisions by mail.

Um I think only ED kids can legally activate their NetID.

legally... right! that's the key word. lol. just wait a few more days! nyu will send you the brochure on how to activate your account anyway. don't worry!

haha thanks!!

wow NYU is one of the new 25 ivies?!

That's amazing...

So, I got into an ivy? :)

Does anyone know when RD-accepted students were able to (with permission) last year?

probably after you enroll in the school after may 1st
