when is it okay to ask a teacher for a recommendation letter?

i wanted to ask my spanish teacher for a recommendation, but i feel like it's too late. tomorrow's the last day of exams, and i feel like it would seem really last minute. i'm also kind of terrified of asking because supposedly she asks for a list of accomplishments or something (which i guess is customary), but i really don't have anything impressive AT ALL. what am i supposed to do about that if she asks? i get really good grades, but that's mainly it. i wanted to ask my spanish teacher since it's my best class—it's an honors class, and she's told me multiple times how i get the highest scores in the class. we haven't talked a ton, though, so i feel like it would be a little bit awkward. i've been depressed throughout high school and i have hardly any ECs, and it's really blowing up in my face. i'm scared to ask any teacher, actually, because i don't have anything significant or interesting to give them. i haven't done anything consistently. i don't know what to do.

are you a junior? if so, I don’t think it’s a big deal. if you think your spanish teacher can write you the best recommendation, just go for it. you have to ask someone
