I am confused as to whether I should start shadowing during my freshman year to get a head start or whether I should wait and get accustomed to college life first. Any Advice would be helpful?

Unless you know someone who’d let you shape them start searching as early. As early you can

since shadowing doesn’t have the same kind of responsibility as a lab position or a volunteer position you should be able to balance it even at the beginning of college.

Ask yourself what you might gain from this experience. As a freshman, you have very little knowledge base and will not get much out of shadowing. Focus on your college studies at your level.

^lol you dont need a big knowledge base to shadow. The point is to get a feel for medicine and what it entails, not to understand the pathophys behind the diseases you’re seeing
