I'm trying to find out when is the best time to take review course and MCAT. I heard some people take them when they are at 2nd or 3rd quarter of junior year. However, wouldn't it be better to take the test at the beginning of Junior or end of Sophomore because students should have finished all the courses by that time? How many times of the test can you take? Does it hurt you to take more than time? Any answer will be appreciated. Thanks!

Anytime between the end of soph year and the end of junior year is fine. You can take it a few times, but you really really only want to take it once. It will hurt you if your first score isn’t very good.

Does that mean medical school will see all the scores you have?

Yes .

I am taking the MCAT this year in mid-Aug just prior to beginning the fall semester. This allows about 2.5 months to review at a slow pace. If you want early admissions consideration you may need it completed by the deadline (Aug 1 at my #1 school of choice). I just will not apply early since numeric score is most important.

Do not take it more than once.

^Agree with all. It took D. about 5 months though, while having lighter class schedule. Took it May 22, couple weeks after her junior year spring finals, wished she had it scheduled a little earlier. She does not need to take it 2nd time. But she did not apply (and never planned to do so) to H, JHU, Wash in ST.L…etc. So, what is good for one, might be different story for another.
