When is the course registration day??

hi! i'm an incoming student from Korea.
can i schedule my classes now??????????
and how many classes do you usually take?

um, well, i live an hour and a half from new brunswick so im not sure how scheduling from that far works. i went to the academic planning and advising day to schedule, but all they pretty much did was talk about the different majors and stuff and at the end of the day they gave us a paper and scheduled our classes, you can probably schedule online

well, first off, what school are you in?

certain pre-professional schools, like mine, the school of engineering, don’t have to go to academic planning and advising days. we just send in our packet and they basically schedule all the engineering prereqs for us while fitting in our humanities.

if you are in the school of arts and sciences and do need to attend an APA day, though, I don’t know about accommodations for overseas students…

i’m in SAS.
i’ll take the placement test on August 31st(cuz i’m an international student).
do you think i can schedule my classes after the test?

I’m sure you can, because they can’t finalize your schedule without your placement test scores in the first place.

it’s not necessary to take the placement tests before you schedule your classes. just after you take the placement tests you change your classes accordingly

Is summer orientation mandatory for all students? Do you have to register for planning and advising day?

If I remember correctly when I was admitted to Rutgers they sent me a letter with the list of courses available for the semester and you can mail them the form attached with the list of courses that you want to take. They will do the scheduling for you and mail you your first semester’s schedule. But of course if you don’t like it you can change it during the first week of classes through WebReg yourself.

Oh my god!!! i didn’t attend the SAS day… i think it’s mandatory cuz i’m in SAS right??
i’ve just e-mailed Rutgers about this but omg!!! i don’t know what i should do…

You’re the student from Korea right? =)

I’m pretty sure you didn’t HAVE to go since you were an international student. They can’t expect you to fly all the way to New Jersey just for 6 hours of academic advising. Plus you didn’t miss anything. I found that orientation day to be boring.

And yes, you should be able to register for courses even without taking the placement tests. After you take the placement test, you will have your schedule adjusted to correspond with the results

Oh thank you!!! what a relief.
btw how can i know that the level of courses? i’m trying to schedule classes on-line but i don’t know which code means the level of each courses.

oh i’ve just found out.
