When should I apply to medical schools?

I was planning on taking my MCAT on June 17, so that would mean after I get my MCAT scores back it will be about July 17. This puts my application submissions at around July 20. When I told my MCAT review teacher for KAPLAN, he said that I should think about taking it in May. That way I could have all my applications in by July 1st.

Is it really worth taking the MCAT 3 weeks earlier just so I can hand in my applications 3 weeks earlier?

'Tis .

Yes. Listen to the the Kaplan person. You’ll be late to the party for schools with rolling admissions otherwise.

I’m going to say no. It would be nice to get it done earlier so that you have the option of retaking, but most secondaries aren’t sent out until mid july. If you are prepared to burn through those you could still easily finish quite ahead of the pack.

Ideally, you should take your MCAT during your sophomore-junior year. From then on, it is downhill.
