When should I begin my QB application?

Hi, I'm a junior right now and have been warned by many of my friends who are in college now to start my QB application very early. I want to have a lot of time to get my essays just right and such. When would be the ideal time to begin on the application? I'm thinking sometime during summer?

I’m not sure when the application process starts. But I recieved a letter from them (the first time I had ever heard of QuestBridge) around the middle of August. So I only had a little bit more than a month to find out as much as I could about QuestBridge and do the application. IT WAS STRESSFUL!!!
So I suggest you start as soon as you can, especially researching the colleges. (I had never heard of most of their partner colleges. TERRIBLE!!!)
The essays can wait till the summer when you will have less school-related stress and work.

The QB app for juniors comes out in February, I think it is. This will be good practice for writing the college match essays. The QB app for seniors will come out in August.

You should fill out the QB College Prep application your Junior year. They usually come out on March. The template of the QB College Prep is very similar to the QB National College Match with the exception of the Bio essay and the short answers. I started my essays in late August, but I had already written my personal statement. I think it’s a good idea to contemplate about what you want to write. But I, personally, don’t think it’s necessary to start too early. If I was you I would start the College Prep, so that I would have a better idea on how to tackle the National College Match application. I would also recommend applying for the fly-in programs. I believe many of the Questbridge Partners offer all-expense paid visits for minority and low-income students. So, besides, your online research make sure you apply to these programs.

Bottom line: Start the College Prep application early in junior year. Then the QB National College Match early August.

Honestly, it’s up to you and your style. If you work well under extreme pressure, go ahead and start writing your essays the night before the deadline. Since you’re already pretty informed about the process, however, I suggest you go ahead and do what the above said and start as early as you want. Researching the schools /does/ take time, though.

Honestly though, it’s up to you.
